Michael Martin, President

Mr. Martin boasts an illustrious career spanning over four and a half decades within the nuclear industry. His expertise extends across various domains, including distinguished roles in the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD), and the commercial nuclear sector.

His impressive qualifications include being a certified NQA-1 Lead Auditor, a proficient Team Leader for independent assessments, and an adept practitioner of INPO Style Performance-Based Evaluations. Mr. Martin has honed his skills by conducting these evaluations at both DOE and NRC regulated sites, showcasing his deep-rooted industry knowledge. Remarkably, he has also held a Senior Reactor Operator license at several facilities.

Mr. Martin has also amassed a wealth of experience in line management, having assumed pivotal positions at DOE and commercial nuclear facilities. His roles have included serving as an Operations Manager, a Reactor Training Manager, and an Operations Engineer overseeing high-level radioactive waste processing plants. His diverse skill set encompasses preoperational testing, overseeing normal power generation, and orchestrating restart activities under rigorous regulatory scrutiny.

Additionally, Mr. Martin served as a Startup-Test Engineer during the commencement of a waste processing facility, playing a pivotal role in initial staffing and preoperational testing. His illustrious career highlights also encompass restarting DOE category A and category B reactor facilities in Tennessee and Idaho, as well as leading target facility readiness for the initial startup of the SNS particle accelerator in Tennessee.

For several years, Mr. Martin dedicated his efforts to implementing nuclear facility qualifications and “Conduct of Operations” programs within the DOE complex. He oversaw numerous startup and restart activities in accordance with DOE Order 425.1D, “Startup and Restart of Nuclear Facilities” and DOE Order 420.2B, “Safety of Accelerator Facilities.” Mr. Martin is renowned for his comprehensive understanding of DOE guidance (DOE-STD-3006) for conducting management self-assessments, readiness assessments, and contractor operational readiness reviews. His remarkable career underscores his unwavering commitment to excellence and safety within the nuclear industry.

Michael Long, General Manager

Mr. Long has served as the General Manager at S.R. Martin Group for the past nine years, where he champions the company’s strategic initiatives, oversees daily operations, and drives business growth. With over 40 years of experience in the technology sector, he has a distinguished track record of managing complex projects and delivering innovative solutions.

Mr. Long attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), where he furthered his education and developed a robust technical background that has been pivotal in his professional journey. His early career involved working as a manufacturing engineer, designing tooling and production processes, and programming computer numerical control (CNC) machines for high-precision scientific instruments and aerospace components. This foundational experience provided him with invaluable insights into tooling design and machinery automation, which have been instrumental throughout his career and provided the expertise to develop real-time dynamic simulations of naval propulsion and support systems.

Before joining S.R. Martin Group, Mr. Long held several key positions in the commercial technology sector and government contracting companies where he honed his expertise in corporate budgeting, cost control, and compliance with federal regulations. His extensive knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS), and other government contracting standards has been crucial in securing and managing high-value contracts with agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Mr. Long’s leadership is distinguished by his expertise in crafting winning proposals, negotiating and managing contracts, optimizing processes, integrating advanced technologies to boost operational efficiency, and managing costs to enhance profitability. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is a dedicated advocate for STEM education and takes great pride in mentoring young professionals in the tech industry, especially in the fields of tooling design, machinery automation, software development, and artificial intelligence.
